Draft 9 August 2026
Acceptable use
Short, because most of it is obvious. The parts that are specific to this product are in section 2.
1. The general rules
Do not use Termsroom to:
- break any law, or help anyone else to
- store or transmit malicious code
- store material you have no right to hold
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone
- resell, sublicense or white-label the service without our written agreement
- benchmark or reverse engineer the service for a competing product
2. The rules specific to Termsroom
These exist because the product’s value to both sides depends on them. Breaking one is a material breach.
- Do not attempt to reach the other party’s private room, its membership, its documents or its risk register, by any means.
- Do not attempt to defeat, remove or alter a watermark on any copy, or to strip the identifying information from an exported document.
- Do not attempt to alter, delete or forge an audit record, or to act under another person’s account.
- Do not share your login. Every action is attributed to a person, and a shared account destroys that.
- Do not connect storage that is not your organisation’s. Personal cloud accounts are refused by the system; do not attempt to work around it.
- Do not misrepresent our findings. Our change summaries are aids to review. Do not present them to a third party as a legal opinion or as a complete record of a document.
3. Security research
We welcome it. Email security@termsroom.com before testing, do not access anyone else’s data, do not degrade the service for others, and give us reasonable time to fix what you find. We will not pursue researchers who follow those rules.
4. What happens if you break these rules
Depending on severity we may warn you, suspend an individual account, suspend your organisation, or terminate. Where a breach affects the other party in a negotiation we will tell them, because they are the ones exposed by it.
